Siren Watch Program

About the Siren Watch Program

The Franklin County Siren Watch Program is a key element to ensuring all outdoor warning sirens in the Franklin County Warning Siren System are working properly.  It is of paramount importance to all 42 jurisdictions that the outdoor warning siren system is ready to activate at a moment’s notice to warn citizens outdoors of potential hazards and alert them to take immediate protective action. Siren Watchers are a force multiplier and provide an invaluable service in keeping the Franklin County Warning Siren System operating at 100 percent.  Is your community outdoor warning siren being monitored every Wednesday at noon?

Volunteer for the Franklin County Siren Watch Program

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity that only takes five minutes a week and you can do from work or home? Siren Watchers monitor and report on one assigned outdoor warning siren every Wednesday after the noon test (weather permitting). Reports are completed online or by phone.  FCEM&HS staff monitors your reports and investigates any potential system errors. We understand that occasionally you may not be able to report due to work, travel or other personal reasons. For more information or to register to become a weekly siren watcher, simply click the links below.

Interactive Siren Watcher Mapping System

FCEM&HS now offers an interactive online mapping system to report weekly siren information. Through the interactive Siren Watcher Mapping System, siren watchers who monitor an assigned outdoor warning siren each week during the Wednesday noon test can report their results within seconds.
